We are on a roll!

So, we went back to Dr. Nash on 9/10/13 and up dosed to 75 mgs.. no issues at all!  All stomach problems seem to have disappeared... I know normal is to feed them good 30  minutes or so before dose, well I found I reversed that.. Fed him good after dose and that alleviated all symptoms! This shows you each child is different and this is why private practice OIT is so important because it can fit every type of child, in my opinion... I got to meet a little boy while in NC whose mom was instrumental in my fears during the beginning of OIT... he is so cute.
I don't know if it is me or what, but I have always been the over protective parent with this allergy, with good reason.. but now after starting OIT, yes I have a bit of apprehension at each up dose, but I am so calm and relaxed about OIT now- I figure that after the reactions Evan had and we are doing this good, I can feel positive! I know anything can happen, but anything can happen anyday of his life, so I will just keep on rolling
We are suppose to go back for up dose to 100mgs on the 24th but that may be postponed.. Dealing with some sad personal things and not sure if will be able to make that trip, but called Dr. Nash this morning and he is mailing out extra doses, for just in case- such a huge relief.
Evan is doing really good with home/virtual school- been tough on him last few days with all the issues going on but he is trying and I am trying to stay on task with him too-best decision we ever made after OIT-
Not a long post but a very good one.. Take care and God Bless

Been a while....

It has been a while since I updated blog and how this journey is going... It has been quite crazy, traveling every 2 weeks and such and then getting ready for our first year of homeschool (junior high and advanced kid at that)... So I will say WE ARE AT 50 MGS AND NO ISSUES.... well no issues?? the verdict is still out on that.

We started on June 25, 2013 and got to 3 mgs (1/100th) of a peanut.. Imagine taking a peanut (they aren't that big) and cutting it up into 100 pieces.. yeah, quite shocking! to think that little bit could kill my child.. We went back the next day and did dose again in office, and then off we went..
Our next up dose was 7/9/13 and we went to 6 mgs.. again he is doing great! Then on 7/23/13 we went to 12 mgs; then 8/6/13 (disaster trip) we went to 25mgs.. then we waited until 8/25/13 to up dose to 50 mgs.. BECAUSE MY HUSBAND ACTUALLY GOT TO TAKE A DAY OFF WORK AND WE MADE A FAMILY FUN WEEKEND HAPPEN!!!!

He has had stomach aches off and on and severe pain, but at not a consistent time after dose so I cannot 100% say it is related but it makes me think possibly... or hormones!

So the disaster trip of 8/6/13- we had a 2PM appointment and he was running really late (Dr. Nash!!!) so it was after 5 PM when I actually got out of there....UGH-  Then about an hour outside of Savannah I look down and see my battery light coming on and then fading off... I called my husband and was like WTF- so he says, it is either battery or alternator but I am betting alternator- so I say I just filled up and got drink so I don't need to stop again, so I will be good?   Sure if it was my battery, my car would keep going until I stopped, but then he informed me that if it was alternator which he thought, then yes it could just die as I am going 75 MPH down highway.. WHAT????   So he says the biggest draw on alternator is lights (can't turn those off) and AC- so I said I will turn off AC.. he said no way.. if it happens it happens.. NOPE- I rolled down windows (HOT) and turned off radio- I have since been told I was a complete idiot, but I got home didn't I? and Thank the swear jar Evan slept the whole way... LOL

Now our family fun weekend... Umm I love my husband and child, but I love them more when the are separate.... LOL-  We had a good time, but I was so ready to be home to my 4 legged babies who don't talk back and have a comment for everything...No, really we had a blast and I love my dysfunctional family... but do not like sharing a double bed with 5 pillows and a body pillow with my husband...NOT FUN-
I did get to meet up with an old friend who lives outside of Raleigh, we have known each other since Elementary school, and got to meet her 2 amazing daughters and hubby- she has supported me through this journey and been interested in learning all about it...

HOMESCHOOL-  there was no other choice for us.  In our county Elementary is K-6th grade, and Evan's school was PreK-6th and only 800 kids and we live next door... it was controllable somewhat..While I had my issues, and voiced many concerns, every teacher there knew about him.. Going to Jr High (7th and 8th) he would be going to a school with 1800 kids in just 2 grades, more common areas, and FOOD everywhere.. I would have NO control at all, and neither would he- so we are doing Florida Virtual School- He is doing well (only 1 week in) and the curriculum is kick butt.. I am flabbergasted, but it is what he needs!
Soccer season has started and him moving up to U14 is like the big boys- longer halves, bigger fields, more kids on field- and then to figure out dose times- that is like a damn scientific mathematical equation in itself... When dosing, I keep him calm and not hot 1 hour before and at least 2 hours after, I prefer more, but don't always get it... so yeah, thinking that is easy.. HAHA- now don't forget every  2 weeks and when we go we have to be within 2 hours of dosing time.. oh yeah, that was another fact, each dose has to be in 2 hour window- say I dose him at 2 pm- then next day I can do noon or 4PM- I try to keep at same time, but ok, so practice is 5-6 PM- great.. so I can't dose him after 3 for it to be safe, or I would have to wait until 8 pm- but wait, I go to NC for up dose at 1 PM-  oh and then factor in games...NEVER same time.. one week it could be 9 am the next 2 PM- and oh yeah, those weekends when we have SATURDAY and SUNDAY games... or the tournament we are participating in at end of season.. I give up- It will work out and I don't have time for that equation.. just doing it day to day...

Love you all and hope you enjoy this journey with us as much as we are enjoying it, and THANKFUL for the opportunity and outcome!
I am attaching picture that shows doses... from top to bottom 3 mg- 50 mg.. WE HAVE COME A LONG WAY BABY!!! He is now at 1/6th of peanut...
